Proliferating cells were identified through BrdU incorporation and expression of the proliferation markers Ki67 and Cyclin D1 Conclusion These data support the evidence that CD133 expression characterises a population of cells within the resident adult human retinal which have progenitor cell properties and whose turnover and differentiation is LIF-dependent. Was changed to this:These data support the evidence that CD133 expression characterises a population of cells within the resident adult human retina which have progenitor cell properties and that their turnover and differentiation is influenced by LIF.

CD133+ adult human retinal cells remain undifferentiated in Leukaemia Inhibitory Factor (LIF)

BACKGROUND CD133 is a cell surface marker of haematopoietic stem and progenitor cells. Leukaemia inhibitory factor (LIF), sustains proliferation and not differentiation of embryonic stem cells. We used CD133 to purify adult human retinal cells and aimed to determine what effect LIF had on these cultures and whether they still had the ability to generate neurospheres. METHODS Retinal cell susp...

Investigation of Leptin, Leukemia Inhibitory Factor (LIF), and IL-6 Serum Levels in Myeloid Leukemia

Background: Leptin has been implicated in the differentiation and proliferation of hematopoietic cells. Leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) may play an important role, along with Interleukin-6 (IL-6) and granulocyte colony stimulating factor (G- CSF), in the regulation of early hematopoietic stem cells. The aim of the study was to evaluate serum level of leptin, LIF, and IL-6 in myeloid leukemia p...

Effect of different concentrations of leukemia inhibitory factor on gene expression of vascular endothelial growth factor-A in trophoblast Tumor Cell Line

Background: Several studies have shown that leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) is one of the most important cytokinesparticipating in the process of embryo implantation and pregnancy, while, the role of this factor on vascular endothelialfactor-A (VEGF-A), as one of the most important angiogenic factor, has not been fully investigated yet. The aimof this study was to evaluate th...

Effects of Leukemia Inhibitory Factor on gp130 Expression and Rate of Metaphase II Development during in vitro maturation of mouse oocyte

Background: Leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) is a 45-56 kDa glycoprotein that has an important role in proliferation and embryo implantation. Its effect on oocyte maturation and how to exert the function remained to be elucidated. Methods: Immature mice superovulated with human menopausal gonadotropin and germinal vesicle (GV) oocytes were obtained from ovary 48 hours after. GV oocytes were cul...
